Carvalho Joins Rhode Island Governor-Elect's Transition Team

As she prepares to take office just down Interstate 95, Rhode Island governor-elect Helena Foulkes has hired JON CARVALHO, a former reporter and City Hall official in New Bedford, as her transition team communications director. A University of Massachusetts Amherst alumnus, Carvalho most recently worked at the Dewey Square Group in Boston and had been doing communications work for supporters of Question 7 here as recently as last month. Before Dewey Square, Carvalho worked in New Bedford city government -- as communications director for the city's school district and then deputy chief of staff and press secretary to Mayor Jon Mitchell. Earlier, he was a government and politics reporter at The Standard-Times. He is the clerk of New Bedford's Zoning Board of Appeals, according to the city website.
